Biography:
Jan Peres was a watchmaker in Haarlem, who also made and repaired some planetaria, among which the Eysenbroek planetarium and probably a planetarium invented by Jean Le Clerc, dit de la Pierre from Amsterdam. Little is known of his life. He may be born in the Lutheran community of Purmerend, a small village north of Amsterdam. In 1765 he entered the Haarlem guild of St. Luke as a watchmaker. He lived in the Grote Houtstraat, one of Haarlem's major streets. Peres passed away in 1812, leaving behind a widow, Maria van Weggels, who died six years later. The inventory of his shop was auctioned on 15 October 1812. Peres's large planetarium, made in 1788, surfaced only twice in the historical records. In November 1815, the apparatus was sold by a Haarlem auctioneer together with 'an excellent electrical machine. The Peres planetarium surfaced again in 1852, when it was sold by another Haarlem auctioneer, together with some furniture, a standing clock, and maybe the same electrical machine, never to be seen again.

Biography:
Scientific instrument maker in Leiden, became an apprentice of Anthony Hoevenaar on 22 July 1655. His father Jan Jansz Block was a carpenter. At the time of his marriage in 1671 he was registered as a 'slotenmaker' in the Coppenhinksteeg, so he probably left the instrument makers trade at some time to become a locksmith.

Biography:
Scientific instrument maker in Delft. Son of the Delft instrument maker Gerard Bernhard Hendrik Filbri (1811-1883), who mostly worked for the Delft company of P.J. Kipp & Zonen. In 1870 he married Bastiaantje Schut (d. 1920). In 1881 he is not mentioned in the Delft Adresboekje. However, he probably is registered as 'B.B. Filbri, instrumentmaker' at the Zuiderstraat 138. In the Adresboekjes of 1884-1886 he is mentioned as 'G.B.[A.] Filbri, instrumentmaker' at another address: Voorstraat 71, probably the former house of his brother Marinus Pieter, who had left for Rotterdam at the end of 1881. From 1888 onwards he lived as 'instrumentmaker' at Vlamingstraat 99.
