Biography:
Scientific instrument maker active in the second half of the eighteenth century. Dawans made geometrical instruments and stereometric figures. Between 1758 until his death in 1769, he made and repaired many instruments for the cabinet of the Stadtholder, as well as the 'Fundatie van Renswoude' in The Hague. He probably was related to Nicolaas Dawans: both made geometric instruments and worked for the Fundatie van Renswoude.
Collection: Museum Boerhaave (small cabinet with several stereometric figures, almost destroyed during World War II: only three figures survive).

Biography:
Scientific instrument maker who lived and worked in The Hague. He probably was related to Henry Dawans: both made geometrical instruments. Like Henry, Nicolas worked also for the Fundatie van Renswoude in The Hague (1758-1762). He also made several models of windmills.
