18 januari 2010Christiaan Huygens was born on April 14, 1629, as the second son of the poet and statesman Constantijn Huygens and his wife, Suzanna van Baerle. The Huygens family was made up of a dynasty of senior civil servants in the service of the Princes of Orange. Christiaan was therefore born into a chique, rich, and very cultured environment.
